1. Agreement
By using the PROOFDESK website or app, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use them.
2. Operator
PROOFDESK is operated by PROOFDESK team (projectteamforyou). Contact: projectteamforyou@gmail.com.
3. The service and beta status
PROOFDESK is a local-first digital evidence workstation for Windows. It is currently in beta: features may change, be added or be removed, and errors may occur.
4. License
Subject to these terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the app for personal or professional purposes. Open-source components are governed by their own licenses, which prevail for those components. You may not remove notices, resell the app as your own, or use it to infringe others' rights.
5. Free and Pro editions
PROOFDESK is free during the beta. A Free edition and a paid Pro edition are planned; their features and prices will be announced after the beta, and you will not be charged without agreeing to a separate offer. Core features for preserving originals will not be locked behind a paywall.
6. Nature of the results
PROOFDESK reports observations such as hashes, matches, mismatches, metadata and differences, and automated signals that may be inconclusive. It does not determine whether a file is authentic, detect every manipulation or establish what happened.
PROOFDESK does not guarantee that any output will be admitted as evidence by a court or authority, and it is not legal advice. You remain responsible for your conclusions, for validating your methods, and for obtaining expert or legal review where appropriate.
7. Your responsibilities
You must have the right to possess and process the files you analyze and must comply with applicable laws, including privacy and data protection laws. You must not use PROOFDESK to gain unauthorized access to devices or accounts, bypass security measures, or fabricate evidence. Keep independent backups of important data.
8. Your data
The app is designed not to modify original files and to keep your data on your device. We do not host your case data and cannot recover it for you.
9. Third-party services
Optional integrations such as the OpenAI API, and results imported from ORIGMA, are provided by third parties under their own terms. Imported ORIGMA results are shown as external results; we do not verify or re-score them.
10. Acceptable use of the website
Do not attack, overload or probe the website or its APIs, attempt to access the admin area without authorization, or submit false analytics data.
11. Intellectual property
The PROOFDESK name, logo, website content and app, excluding open-source components and third-party materials, belong to the operator or its licensors.
12. Disclaimer
To the extent permitted by law, the website and app are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or uninterrupted operation.
13. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for loss of data, profits or reputation arising from the use of PROOFDESK. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your statutory rights as a consumer.
14. Changes and termination
We may update these terms and will change the effective date when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the new terms. You may stop using PROOFDESK at any time.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. Mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence remain unaffected. Translations are provided for convenience; if they conflict, the English version prevails unless local law requires otherwise.
